Electronic Arts (EA) has sent word that they will be releasing the officially licensed videogame of the UEFA Euro 2008 that takes place in Switzerland and Austria this year. The game will be powered by the EA Sports football engine and will feature players that are more accessible, faster paced and responsive.

The UEFA Euro 2008 game will have over 50 European national teams and will let gamers play as their favorite country from qualifiers to the finals. It includes dazzling visual representations of the world’s most famous football players. Also, the game will feature a new game mode called Captain Your Country. It allows gamers to put themselves on the pitch and earn the captaincy of their team.

An online mode called Battle of the Nations will feature in the UEFA Euro 2008 game. A mobile version of the game will also be released. It will have a new innovative single button control system that offers a 11 vs 11 football experience on mobile

He says, “Our game, UEFA EURO 2008, celebrates the passion fans have for their national teams by capturing all of the national rivalries in-game, and enabling you to captain your country or play as your heroes and inspire them to glory. We have taken our football engine to another level and added innovative new features to make a videogame that captures and replicates the real-world experience and all the emotion of this tournament.”

UEFA Euro 2008 has been developed by EA’s studios in Canada. The game is expected to release on April 11, 2008 on the PS2, PS3, PSP, Xbox 360 and the PC platforms. The mobile version of UEFA Euro 2008 will be available across Europe with all major operators. Let’s hope the game is released on the Wii and the Nintendo DS too!
